Belgium and the Netherlands are European leaders in biopharma, yet thousands of severe and rare diseases still lack effective treatments. At the same time, companies face growing challenges: slow and risky drug development, high infrastructure costs, and a persistent shortage of skilled talent.
PHARMAFORGE brings together top-tier Flemish and Dutch partners to change this. By building a shared high-throughput innovation platform and investing in next‑generation talent, PHARMAFORGE aims to speed up the entire drug development process - from discovery to production. PHARMAFORGE is an interreg multipartner project uniting the biopharma industry on the Flanders - South Netherlands border and funded by the European union.
The ultimate goal of PHARMAFORGE is to enhance the competitiveness, innovative capacity and sustainability of the pharmaceutical industry in the cross-boarder region and within the European Union.
To this end, the project has three objectives:
Conducting a gap analysis in Flanders and South Netherlands to identify gaps in the biopharmaceutical R&D landscape regarding infrastructure and human capital.
Provide better access to high-throughput experimentation expertise and infrastructure through the realization of the PHARMAFORGE innovation platform.
Access to a unique lifelong learning platform for targeted talent development focused on drug development and production.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Interreg Vlaanderen-Nederland programme Interreg VI under project code Int6A066 – PHARMAFORGE.
